The best barn wedding!

Posted by on August 26, 2014 in Blog | 0 comments

A client recently asked my opinion about a barn on a farmyard for a wedding venue. ‘Perfect’ I replied and that really had to be my answer as that is exactly what my husband and I chose for our wedding. So this week I thought I would tell you about my own wedding, how we decorated the venue and made it our own, the style we chose and how I sourced everything to bring it all together. Hopefully it will give you some useful ideas for your own big day.   Chris and I got married just over 3 years ago on a sunny day in Wiltshire. We...

Something borrowed, something blue

Something borrowed, something blue

On a crisp and chilly October’s day after six years of dating, Lydia and Tim married in a gorgeous Wiltshire village church. Following the service, they wound their way to a farm nearby where they had a marque reception close to the magical Avebury Stone Circle. Tim looked very handsome in tails, whilst Lydia looked incredible in a dress she had made to measure with inspiration taken from an original Le Spose di Gio in Belgravia. The colour scheme for the day was navy blue, which is fairly unusual, but shouldn’t be, as it worked...

A Canterbury Tale

A Canterbury Tale

This wedding is seriously stunning! Our bride and groom chose the beautiful Preston Court for their venue.  Preston Court is a conservation area with a variety of heritage buildings and a really pretty rural church. The gardens are beautiful with ornamental lakes and a magical moated island. It really is the place of fairy tales. The ceremony was held outside in the idyllic grounds of the Manor House. Katey arrived at the ceremony on her father’s arm via the prettiest little bridge in front of the house, where guest sat on straw bales...

Vicki and Adams Wiltshire Wonderland

It is almost a year since Vicky and Adams brilliant wedding last summer. Vicky was totally dedicated to creating the perfect day and her attention to detail was second to none. She spent months searching for their venue and finally found a farm near to Wootten Bassett, Wiltshire where they were able to hire a small field. Parsonage Farm set at the foot of the spectacular Ridgeway gave them the freedom to create a country wedding and best of all, with no neighbours, the band could be as loud as they wanted! The marriage ceremony was held at...

Blackboards and Birthdays!

I wanted to show you a few photographs from this lucky birthday girl’s party. She had the most amazing party styled for her by Renee of Renee Williams Events (www.reneewilliamsevents.com), and we where pleased to contribute a number of pieces to help dress the space. Renee created a stunning looking party from a fairly plain building and a tonne of imagination! She made brilliant use of our slate signs as place names, they looked really bold and stylish against the soft lavender and the rattan and white chairs. You can find lights similar to...

Blue Mason Jars

Blue Mason Jars

The latest addition to my collection is these gorgeous blue mason jars. I seriously love these jars. Even on their own they look stylish, the colour, the size, the design. Then you add flowers and water and they really come to life. John Landis Mason patented his jar in 1858, the perfect jar for home-food preservation, which was tricky in those days! His invention sparked a home-canning revolution that lasted until the 1950’s These jars make amazing centrepieces, perfect for a wedding, christening or birthday party. They can also be hung to...

The Big Allotment Challenge

The Big Allotment Challenge

After months of waiting, I was so excited when five of our fabulous milk churns finally featured on BBC2’s ‘The Big Allotment Challenge’ last week. Famous! As part of the semi-final, each pair of contestants had to create a pedestal to sit on the milk churns that included chrysanthemums and other flowers from the contestant’s allotments. They did a great job, with the winners Rupert and Dimi producing a beautiful design.     Lots of brides hire our milk churns for a pedestal arrangement, to go either side of the entrance to...
